A puppy and a lion cub have become the best of friends at Sadgorod Zoo in Vladivostok, and can’t separate being apart at all, footage from Friday shows.

“They are separated for around an hour a day. During this time the lioness becomes restless, moans, and looks for the dog, she is very worried for her missing friend,” explains Sadgorod Zoo Vet, Viktor Agafonov.

Elza the pup was introduced to Astra the cub to help her “socialise and accept human contact,” according to Agafonov. The two sleep on the same pillow and play together, and, it even turns out they were born on the same day two months ago.
