Hey guys, welcome back! I got a couple of requests to do a puppy checklist video, and thought it was a great idea. This video is on the long side, but that is just because I wanted it to be thorough. I have included the main points of the video below, but recommend you watch the video all the way through to get the most out of it. But if you get antsy, and want to skip through parts, I’ve included time marks for the three main sections below as well. Thank you for watching!

Things to consider before getting a puppy:
• Research: cost, time, breed-temperament, grooming requirements, life span, health problems, exercise needs, behavioral concerns, living arrangements, current lifestyle, change in lifestyle, safety of other animals in home, adjustment for established dogs in home,
• Adopt/breeder/rescue
• Pure breed/mix breed

Basic supplies
• Food/water/bowls
• Leash/collar/harness
• Car safety restraints
• ID tags
• Microchip
• Waste management/house breaking
• Toys
• Chews
• Containment-baby gate, crate, play yard, x-pen
• Puppy proof house
**Take the first week off to stay at home with your new puppy to get them used to their new home, and get them on a feeding/potty schedule**

• Holistic/traditional/emergency
• Pet insurance/wellness plans/care credit

Grooming
• Professional groomer-private/big box
• Do it yourself

Training
• Puppy socialization- 2-4 months
• Basic obedience 6-12 months

Boarding/pet sitter/daycare

• Herding
• Water/foul retrieval/dock diving
