Not sure what products to buy for your new bundle of puppy-joy? Come shopping with me and Jack and I’ll give you the low-down on the basics.

*** Editors Note: We have been getting some comments regarding the amount of treats we picked up at the end of the video, so we would like to point out the following:

1. You would be surprised how many treats you will go through in training a dog, so this is not an unusual amount of treats for me to buy since I only go to the pet store once a month. If you are doing positive reinforcement training, you will go through a lot of treats. An average student in obedience class will go through 1 small bag per week.
2. If you really think we would feed ALL of those treats to a puppy in one sitting, humor may not be your strong point. Sarcasm is lost on some.

Also, here’s a great money saving tip! if you cut up the treats when you open the bag and store them in the refrigerator, you can make them last longer (especially if your puppy is a small-medium size breed)!

Other items not mentioned in this video (because they have their own videos) but should still be purchased for your new dog include: monthly topical flea treatment obtained from your vet, high-quality dog food, and a puppy training class!
